The closest interpretation I have attained of a mid-to-late fourteenth century knight.

The surcoat shortened progressively via the second quarter of the fourteenth century to the quick jupon I dress in over. This type of garment was just coming into vogue at the Battle of Crecy (1346) and Poitiers (1356).

This is transition armor, exhibiting the progression from mail to plate defense. To be fully exact I need to be wearing some kind of rudimentary brigandine or coat of plates above my mail haubergon. I never put on this for the sake of comfort and ease on sizzling faire days.

The articulating arm and leg armor progressed sometime by the finish of the 1350s. From about 1320 to 1350 seperately connected plates ongoing to be additional over the sleeve of the mail hauberk which shortened to a a few-quarter length. Via my own study it seems that in the decade amongst 1350 to 1360 these seperate vambraces, elbow cops, and rear-guards grew to become rivetted collectively on closely articulating lames that flexed at the elbow. Leg armor followed a comparable evolution.

Only wealthy knights would have these kinds of extremely formulated armor by the 1360s and it was typically forged in Italy from what I recognize. The older fashion of seperately connected plates almost certainly predominated properly into the 1370s to 1380s and remained the design in German kingdoms.

The pauldrons and vambraces I use right here are centered on examples from popular Castle Churburg dating to about 1380 AD and had been produced by Jeffrey Hedgecock. My quisses have been produced in the Czech Republic. The sword, detailed in other photos, is the Albion Crecy that I customized to my individual specs. The scabbard is the campaign scabbard for the Crecy that I fitted with a new chape and a locket. The sword belt and attachments are my very own hand and the brass quatrefoil mounts are from Revival Clothing along with the smaller belt at my waist.
