This costume was incredibly detailed and so cute. We got tons of compliments when we were out trick or treating. The hat stayed on my little one’s head and it had a zippered back instead of Velcro, which was nice. (No gaps in the back) It did run a little small. I bought a 2T for my 2 year old. He can still wear some 18 month pants, so he is a little guy and this was very snug.

Great costume! It looks great and my wee bucceneer was excited to try it on and is ready for Halloween!. My son is in the 10-15 percentile for weight and a lot of size 2T outfits are typically big on him but this fits him perfectly so I don’t think he will get much play out of it after the holiday.

I was surprised to find that this costume is all one piece….it’s like a pirate jumpsuit really. Even the black boot-like things…they’re part of the pant legs…it’s all sewn together. At first I thought this would be a problem – because it looked like it was going to be *way* too long for my son – but I’m pleased to find I was completely wrong. It’s actually almost a perfect fit – the pant legs are a bit on the longer side, but the brown bit of the pant legs bunches up easily & so it works. The pant legs are designed to go over the top of your kids shoes & there’s an elastic strap that goes under the foot (under the shoe) to keep the boot covers in place.

As most costumes, this does run small. My son is just under 3′ (around 33-35″ tall) & weighs about 32lbs, he’s currently wearing 2T-3T tops & 2T bottoms – the 4T in this fits him perfectly. The hat is just barely too small to properly fit his head – but my son has a big head, and he hates hats (even pirate hats) – so I doubt he would’ve worn if even if it fit. But what’s neat is that the pirate hat has a mesh top – so it’s two sides of a pirate hat with mesh in the middle – so it wouldn’t be something to make your kid super hot (we’re in Florida…where it’s still disgustingly hot, so this is nice).

The quality is pretty good – the only cheap bit being the “shirt” piece (the piece between the vest…since it’s all one-piece sewn together it’s not really a shirt – but the black & white stripes). That’s very thin & partially see-through, so I think he might be wearing a white top underneath this (which thankfully will fit. The sleeves also have elastic around the wrist & it seems very tight, so hopefully that won’t be a problem, but if so I’ll just cut it I guess.
