Practical Single-Hand Sword

The Marshall sword . named for a 12th English knight . is the inspiration for this Practical Single-Hand Sword. For a traditional feel . this sword features a cruciform hilt wheel pommel and a ridged-and-fullered blade that is stiff yet surprisingly light. The entire piece weights less than 2 lbs. Any practitioner can powerfully wield this sword without undue stress on the arm.

These Practical broadswords (SH2106 SH2046 SH2047) are inspired on authentically styled swords already in our collection. However . these specific swords have been designed with the re-enactor and stage combatant in mind. These pieces have become popular. Each features an authentic hilt styling with fully tempered un-edged and un-pointed blade. These swords can withstand rugged use and at the same time provide the high level of security and safety required by re-enactment societies. The blades are crafted from 1065 high-carbon steel hardened to 50HRC which restricts edge-notching to acceptable levels while providing resilience and protection against brittleness. While the blades are substantial they are fullered to provide balance and good handling characteristics. The blades have a 1/16" wide edges and rounded tips for further safety. The tangs are also substantial with radiused corners at the blade shoulders and no welds. The end of the tang is riveted over the pommel which both eliminates any possibility of inadvertent disassembly and provides a traditional means of tightening a loose hilt. Leather covers the hardwood grips. The scabbards are made in glass-filled resin to provide great impact resistance . to eliminate swelling and to minimize blade corrosion problems. Adjustable blade rings on the scabbard allow for vertical or horizontal carry. Although an attractive wood-grain finish has been provided . re-enactors have room to decorate the scabbard as they wish.
