I’m really interested in learning about medieval/ren stuff. Maybe I can learn from someone local and I could gain knowledge and a new girlfriend in the process.Hoping to attend Escondido Ren Faire this year-If hubby wont go with I may just go alone.

the medieval and renaissance periods were almost completely different. the medieval period was more barbaric and dark, hence the name mid-evil. the renaissance was more ordered as far as the class pyramid went, and there was more art and stuff like that. but if it’s a theme park there probably isnt much difference.

Michel Foucault drew comparisons between torture methods of medieval Europe and the modern U.S. criminal justice system, saying that the modern systems still amount to torture. Does anyone else see similarities between the two?

both make you go crazy and make you feel like a dog. in our criminal justice system they done relly look at fixing us or helping us change our ways but more look at how to shame us and make our name look bad.
alot of the times if you go to jail for something minuscule like not paying court fees, no one in the business woulds will want you anymore…

The knights with their squires, and chargers (horses), and armor, etc. ended up widespread medieval heroes. Today, wizards/Druids can also be possibly heroes or villains.

I’m doing a project on medieval entertainment, and I want to put lancing or jousting in there somewhere, but I can’t find anything on what the difference is between them! And i’m looking for the medieval lancing, not the lancing were you prick a boil with a sharp needle (ew)Can someone please help?

I’ve never heard of lancing, except in the medical sense. A LANCE is used in jousting. But as a verb? Never heard it used. I’m pretty sure it’s just a lesser used alternate of the same.
