Question by CosmikAlex: Where can I find about medieval foundation construction?
I need to do a project astir structural foundations of medieval buildings such as cathedrals, castles, etc… the techniques they used for the soil to hold all the load on top.Do you know any books or website I can use as reference? I haven’t been able to find anything usefull yet.Any title or URL with something will help.Thanks!

Question by Madison: How to make learning about medieval towns more entertaining?
I’m doing a report on medieval towns and I’m doing a powerpoint and a 3D model.We have to teach our class about the subject and hand out notes. I’ve done the powerpoint but I want to make it exciting so everyone isn’t bored. Also any tips for building a medieval town and construction would be amaze! Thank you so much!

A couple of things to remember concerning medieval towns:Sewage ran down the middle of the streets in a canal, channel, or conduit, if the town was prosperous the canal was traversed by strategically placed bridges, if not then you jumped or stepped over. The walled were usually constructed with two sides of rocks and inside was refuse, trash, dirt, etc. Most of the buildings were constructed of wood and the roofs were thatched.The keep, the area inside the castle, was used for the serfs to come to in the case of an attack. The buildings were built narrow and with steeply sloping roofs and against the inside walls of the city to buttress them in the case of attack.There are some sources listed below on construction …Hope this helps …
